UNP Spokesperson, Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam told the media after yesterday's meeting of the party's Working Committee that the UNP has decided that parliament should dissolved at the end of the 100 day programme in order to hold elections.

Kariyawasam added that the Working Committee has also discussed that the next election should be held under the old electoral system, the PR system.

Meanwhile, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has earlier proposed to the National Executive Committee to hold the next general election under the PR system and to change the electoral system afterwards.
