Constitutional amendment after Gen. elections

Constitutional amendment after Gen. elections Featured

The president and the prime minister have decided to call a general election after dissolving parliament in the first week of May irrespective of whether the 19th amendment to the constitution and the electoral reforms are passed or not by that time.

‘Lanka news’ website says parliament will be dissolved on May 05 and the general election held on June 27.

When contacted, a person with affiliations to the government said a public mandate would be sought for the passage of the new constitution if it could not be passed within the next few weeks.
