Despite a complaint lodged, police of the area has not yet conducted an investigation, representatives of fisheries associations in the north say.
The assault follows a silent struggle between fishermen of Chundikuli and the Sinhala fishermen coming from the south for the past few months.
Rich in fish resources, the high security Chundikuli sea was banned for the fishermen for several decades, and had been released for fishing only recently.
On several occasions, Sinhala fishermen had threatened the local fishermen through the military, say the representatives.
In a statement, TELO leader, MP Selvam Adailakanathan says fishermen from the south intimidate the Chundikuli fishermen and engage in fishing there.
He alleges that similar to other issues of Tamil people, the problems of northern fishermen too, remain unresolved.
These problems include continuing searches by the Navy and various restrictions, they say, according to jdslanka.org.
