GMOA calls off token strike

A 4-hour token strike organized by the Government Medical Officer’s Association due to get underway at 8am this morning (24) has been called off.

Charging that authorities have deliberately delaying pay hike and increase in DAT allowance for doctors, the GMOA had warned to take Trade Union action.

Speaking to media, Assistant Secretary of the GMOA Dr. Nalinda Herath said the strike was suspended following discussions with the Ministers of Finance and Health last night (23).

He added that during talks, it was agreed to ensure government doctors an additional allowance of Rs. 10,000 from April 2015 onwards.
