Special parliamentary session on the 24th

A special parliamentary session is to be convened on the 24th of this month following a decision reached at the party leaders' meeting.

It has been decided at this meeting to take the adjournment debate requested by Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala De Silva to discuss continuous transfers taking place in state institution under political influence, issues faced by trade union leaders and the transfers taking place in the police department.

It has further been decided to get parliamentary approval for the agreements signed by the Sri Lankan government with four countries including Vietnam and the Czech Republic on the same day as well.

The proposed bill on the 19th Amendment to the Constitution would also be tabled in parliament on that day.
