Minister Samaraweera hosted his Swiss counterpart Didier Burkhalter for breakfast at his official residence during his historic trip to Sri Lanka.

This is the first ever official visit by a Swiss Foreign Minister to Sri Lanka, and follows a number of historic visits since the new government assumed office. Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter was the President of the Swiss Confederation last year.

Meanwhile, Minister Samaraweera also met with his Maldivian counterpart Dunya Maumoon at the Foreign Ministry yesterday (16).

The Sri Lankan and Maldivian Foreign Secretaries and other senior officials, including the Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, also attended the meeting. Foreign Minister Maumoon met Foreign Minister Samaraweera earlier this month in Geneva .

In addition, the minister also met with Indonesian Special Envoy and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs at the Foreign Ministry on March 17.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Sri Lanka and other senior officials were also present. Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous country and South East Asia's largest economy.
