The SLFP plans to discuss reorganizing the party with its policy and planning committee chief, former president Chandrika Kumaratunga, once she returns home from overseas on March 19, said a senior member of the party.

She will have a meeting with president Maithripala Sirisena, after which work relating to the nomination board will begin, he said.

The ex-president will also elaborate on the decision not to give nominations to persons accused or convicted and sentenced of wrongdoing.

Allegations do not make guilty

However, at a media briefing yesterday, opposition leader Nimal Siripala de Silva said all those accused of bribery and corruption are not guilty.

They will be held accountable by a court of law according to proper legal procedures, he said.
