Police office summoned over missing files

The Colombo High Court has issued an order on a senior police officer to appear before court to explain about an investigation into missing files and reports of alleged drug kingpin Samantha Kumara alias Wele Suda.

The court has said the Mount Lavinia Police was directed to inquire and report to court about the missing files into previous probes carried out into Wele Suda.

The judge has summoned SSP of the Mount Lavinia Police Ravindra Karavita to appear in court on May 14th to explain about the inquiry into the missing files.

Wele Suda, who was arrested in Pakistan and brought to Sri Lanka on January 14 by the CID in connection with a large number of cases connected to the drug dealings, has revealed the names of over 30 persons allegedly involved in the drug racket in the country including a Colombo District parliamentarian and a former Inspector General of Police.
