The spokesman said that Mr. Mahendran is likely to go on leave until then.
The three -member committee comprise Gamini Pitipana (Chairman), Mahesh Kalugampitiya and Chandima Mendis were appointed on March 09 by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Speaking, a highly placed official of the ministry of policy planning said that the committee report would come out during the first week of April.
Noting that the committee would meet every Monday, Deputy Minister of Policy Planning and Economic Affairs Harsha de Silva said that the committee would take into consideration expertise advice on this regard and further measures would be taken based on the committee reports.
Meanwhile, a protest is to be held in Fort, Colombo today (16) calling for the removal of CBSL Governor, Arjuna Mahendran.
The protest has been organized by the National Freedom Front and is scheduled to be held outside the railway station in Fort.
There have been calls from many parties for Mahendran’s removal following the controversy over the latest Treasury bond auction.
Speaking at a media briefing recently, JVP MP Sunil Handunneththi called for the removal of Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran from his post until the investigations into the controversial Treasury bond issue was completed.
He said that the CBSL governor should either step down or be removed to pave the way for an impartial investigation into the controversial bond issue.
