The decision was made following a deadlock at Thursday's Cabinet meeting on the proposed constitutional amendment.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Justice Minister Wijayadasa Rajapakshe after presenting the 19th Amendment to the Cabinet has said the amendment should be implemented fast. However, Ministers Champika Ranawaka and Rajitha Senaratne have objected to the view claiming there needed to be a proper consultation process and debate on the proposed amendment before passing it in parliament.
President Sirisena has now summoned a special Cabinet meeting to further discuss the matter.
