Red notice from JHU

Red notice from JHU Featured

The JHU, a party to the good governance regime, demands in a statement that the government and other stakeholders respect the people’s mandate received at the presidential polls and transparently go about amending the constitution.

The statement by its leader Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera says there should be time for an adequate dialogue among the public, parties represented in parliament and civil society organizations on the removal of authoritarian powers of the executive presidency, electoral reforms, establishment of independent commissions as well as the draft bills on national audit, right to information and ethics for politicians.

There should be no conspiracies in palaces or secret talks, nor petty political strategies satisfied with regard to constitutional reforms.

The JHU statement also calls for an immediate halt to statements ridiculing and challenging the consensual political agenda.
