Complaints over 5 Badminton bigwigs

Complaints over 5 Badminton bigwigs Featured

Parents of Badminton players have urged Sports minister Navin Dissanayake not to grant approval for 5 persons who had handed in nominations for leading posts in the Sri Lanka Badminton Association.

They have made the request in a letter to the minister.

The parents have raised charges against the present SLBA president - Suraj Dandeniya, former president - Parakrama Basnayake, former Secretary - Princely Cooke, and vice presidents - Palitha Hettiarachchi and Chamara Aluthge.

The parents say that providing another opportunity to these officials who had held posts in the SLBA for the past period while violating the Sports Constitution would be detrimental to the sport.

They further say that these people have not been in the national pool either.

Also, the SLBA's process to select athletes for international tournaments is a questionable they say, adding that the association lacks a selection committee.

The SLBA's election is to be held on March 31 and 28 nominations have been handed over for the 11 posts in the association.
