Court refuses to impound Nissanka’s passport

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has yesterday rejected a request by the CID to impound the passport of the Chairman of Avant Garde Maritime Securities, Major (Retd) Nissanka Senadhipathi.

The court has explained that Senadhipathi’s passport could not be impounded as he was not named as a respondent or a suspect in the case related to the floating armory issue.

The magistrate has given the CID time till the 12th of this month to decide whether they want to name Senadhipathi as a respondent in the case.

So far, the State Minister for Defence Ruwan Wijewardene, Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe and Leader of the House, Minister Lakshman Kiriella have cleared Avant Garde Maritime Security Service of any wrongdoings.
