UNP not too happy over SLFP's proposal

UNP not too happy over SLFP's proposal Featured

The majority of the United National Party (UNP) are said to be against the proposal to set up a national government after providing ministerial portfolios to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), ahead of General elections, internal UNP sources say.

The main reason for the disagreement is a proposal requesting 14 ministerial portfolios to the SLFP.

According to SLFP sources, the committee appointed by the party to decide the ministries the SLFP should have in a national government, has proposed that ministries including education, Samurdhi, Public administration and Transport should be given to the SLFP.

SLFP MPs have briefed the committee that these ministries, which could have a deep impact on administration activities should be given to the SLFP.
