JHU calls for more emphasis to Anti Corruption Secretariat

The Anti Corruption Secretariat that was set up by the current government in order to address efficiently the issue of corruption during the previous regime is yet to be provided with the required basic facilities.

JHU Spokesperson and member of the Anti Corruption Movement, Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe, who visited the Secretariat to formally hand over several complaints on past incidents of corruption, told the media that the new establishment did not have a sign board or even facilities like a designated fax line.

He added that while many complaints have been lodged with the Bribery Commission and the CID, there has not yet been any action against the wrongdoers.

However, Warnasinghe added that the setting up of the Secretariat was a positive movement.
