At a donation to the charity Zonta from Softlogic, the lady doctor had become angry with the other woman by the name Ronda Daly during an argument, broke a glass and attacked her with a piece of it.
Ronda has had twenty stitches to her wounds on her head and a hand, and is still under medical attention.
She had participated in the function along with Softlogic official Damith Witharanage, a close friend of former minister Dallas Alahapperuma.
The argument began when their vehicle was being parked near Dr. Wijeratne’s vehicle at the car park of the hotel.
Police intimidated
Fort police have recorded statements from the two women.
However, a leading UNP figure has ordered police to immediately halt the investigation.
Dr. Wijeratne gained publicity after she treated MP Duminda Silva, who was injured in a shooting incident.
