Deputy Mahaweli and Environment Minister Wasantha Aluvihare had participated in the discussion to find out the problems faced by families who would lose land and houses due to the construction of the Moragahakanda reservoir.
The aggression had started when the deputy minister had stated that the problems faced by the villagers will be solved within two months.
He has pointed out that he would instruct the officials to solve the issues and that he would return to monitor the progress after two months.
However, the residents of the area who had taken part in the discussion had objected to the deputy minister’s decision and demanded that the government provide solutions for their problems under the 100 day programme.
