The higher education system is left in chaos after the resignation of several officials including the minister of higher education - Prof. Rajiva Wijesinghe and Chairperson of the UGC - Prof. Kshanika Hiriburegama, reports say.

Appointing a news Vice Chancellor to the Eastern University, appointing the Jaffna University senate and resolving issues with regard to the Vice Chancellor of the Colombo University are among the most urgent issues, reports add.

Other issues include resolving the issues pertaining to the course fees of the Open University and approving grants to the university system.
