It is said that Minister Amaratunga is facing criticism from within the government itself for allowing Senanayake to be at large, despite aiding the SSP and IP who were yesterday (27) arrested on charges of aiding to conceal the murderer of the Biyagama Village owner - Bernard Jayaratne.

Bernard Jayaratne (65) was hacked to death in one of his estates in Pahala Dompe in Dompe in 2012.

SSP Weerasinghe Pathiranalage Wimalasena from Jaffna and IP Ananda Rajakaruna from Alpitiya, was arrested by CID yesterday. They are charged of attempting to conceal the murderer of Jayaratne.

Police said these two officers, who were attached to the Special Task Force (STF) during the time of the murder, had provided explosives to the hotel owner’s son with the intention of misguiding the Police over the crime.
