Accordingly, the MPs have suggested that the SLFP should receive 25 ministerial portfolios and deputy ministerial portfolios each.
It has also been suggested that former ministers and deputy ministers who faced corruption charges while the previous government was in power, should not be given any positions in the national government.
The MPs have further suggested that the SLFP should receive several prominent ministerial positions and that the national government should continue until 2016.
Preparing for elections
Meanwhile, at a special meeting with the Maha Sangha in Colombo yesterday (24), Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that those who are opposing to a national government are persons who had engaged in corruption and misdeeds while the previous regime was in power.
These persons have panicked thinking that they would be sued, he has added.
"We have invited the SLFP as well as the UPFA to join us. However, parliament would be dissolved after April 23 and would be followed by elections, the Premier has further said.
