The decision has been taken at the two-day workshop held for SLFP MPs over the weekend.
It has been stated that the party would have their own conditions when functioning as a national government and that the SLFP leadership would be tasked with taking this up with other parties including the United National Party.
Executive Presidency amended :
The President's media unit also announced that it was decided to continue executive presidency after making amendments to it.
The SLFP has also stated that it was unsuitable to hold elections without introducing electoral reforms.
However, the 17th Amendment should remain unchanged, the party had further stated.
Speaking before the party, President Maithripala Sirisena has stated that being able to successfully persuade the UNHRC to defer the Human Rights report against Sri Lanka was a success of the new government.
