She stands accused of having prepared diplomatic passports containing false names and false dates of birth.

Two days ago, the CID had gone to her Kaduwela home to either obtain a statement or to arrest her, but was told she was hospitalized.

Wimal Weerawansa said his wife has become ill due to stress over the various charges being levelled against her, and was hospitalized.

He also said that she would go to police and give a statement as soon as she returned to normalcy.

A serious allegation levelled against Shashi Weerawansa is that she had prepared two passports, one containing the date of birth as 01st February 1967, and the other, a diplomatic passport, with the date of birth as 03 February 1971.

The CID says it has concluded investigations into the matter.

At the Nugegoda rally on February 18, Wimal Weerawansa questioned the government as to why it was not obtaining a statement at least, leaving alone arresting her.
