The Army and the police, in a combined operation, rescued a 35-year-old Dutch man who had fallen down World’s End while honeymooning in Sri Lanka.

Accompanying his wife, Mathinas had gone there and was taking pictures when he slipped and fell.

But, he managed to hang on to a tree around 25 metres below.

Corporal Sudesh Lalinda of the Sinha Regiment went down the cliff and saved him following a three hour effort, which also involved the services of an Air Force Bell-212 helicopter.

The Netherlands man was rushed to Nuwara Eliya Hospital by ambulance.
