Police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana has said Wettasinghe was arrested as several cases were pending against him.
Ravi Wettasinghe was chairman of Wesco, the Sri Lanka Transport Board's Werahera central workshop after it was privatized.
He has been allegedly involved in several cases years ago, Ada Derana reported.
According to reports, Wettasinghe had bought the government-owned Werahera Bus factory for Rs. 25 million in 1993, but left the country when he ran into problems. The government eventually had to pay Rs. 460 million in salaries for the workers.
