The minister was responding to journalists during yesterday's (19) cabinet news briefing, with regard to questions raised on the opposition's rally in Nugegoda.

There is no reason to hold a rally for that purpose, the minister added.

Meanwhile, after being named as the Sri Lanka Freedom Party national organiser recently, Susil Premajayantha said that the fact of Mahinda Rajapaksa being named as Prime Ministerial candidate of the UPFA would depend on whether the latter decides to contest the forthcoming General Election.

Premajayantha added that Rajapaksa is yet to make any statement on this regard.
