He is said to be Chandraratne Pallegama the new director general of the Civil Defence Force whose induction ceremony today caused a major road in Bambalapitiya to be closed to the public for almost two hours.
It happened today (February 12) at what is called the Bambalapitiya station road where the headquarters of the Civil Defence Force in located.
The closure of the road not only meant inconveniencing the general public but also the banning of vehicles and depriving businesses of customer service.
The function was scheduled to start at 9 am but the road was closed from 8.40 am.
The Lankadeepa website reported that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe had expressed his apologies when a disgruntled resident called him and lodged a protest over the phone.
The website further reported that no member of the public had been inconvenienced when at the same time a ceremony was held for Ranil Wickremasinghe and several other ministers at Royal College today (February 12)
