A Sri Lankan employed in the United Arab Emirates, Udara Chathuranga, has been brutally assaulted and an inquiry is underway, srilankamirror learns.

An inquiry will be held at the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau on February 24.

Chathuranga is a resident of Wennappuwa and he is now warded at a hospital in Marawila.

The father of the victim told srilankamirror that his son was assaulted by the manager of Shan International known as Sanjaya and another called Hewapathiranage Viraj Chaminda.

Another three Sri Lankans who were said to be kept in the company against their wishes by the sons of the proprietor returned to Sri Lanka yesterday (February 10).

Chathuranga's father DM Karunaratne further said that it is the responsibility of the Foreign Employment Bureau to see to it that no harm befalls Sri Lankans who are employed in the middle east.
