The proposal, which is to be tabled during the SLFP executive council meeting, is expected to be approved at the party all island committee which will be held later during the day.
The post of the SLFP national organiser fell vacant after former minister Basil Rajapaksa fled abroad following Mahinda Rajapaksa's defeat at the recently concluded presidential election.
However, internal party sources say that no changes will be made to the post of SLFP General Secretary, which is currently held by a seniormost SLFP member - Anura Priyadarshana Yapa.
Meanwhile, reports say that President Maithripala Sirisena and SLFP patron - former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga are to meet today in order to discuss measures that are to be taken during the party meetings on Feb. 14.
