Avant Garde owner seeks court nod to go overseas Featured

Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today (09) sought the advice of the Attorney General over the request made by owner of Avant Garde Maritime Services (Pvt) Ltd - Nissanka Senadhipathi, to go overseas.

President's Counsel Dulendra Weerasuriya has made the request, urging the court to permit Senadhipathi to visit Nigeria, for the purpose of training Nigerian soldiers, which in return is a source of income to the country.

At the present, the CID is conducting a probe against Senadheera over the floating amoury discovered aboard the ship MV Mahanuwara.

IP B. Wijedasa of the CID informed the courts that there is a possibility of Senadheera evading the CID if he is named as a suspect of the case.

However, Mr. Senadhipathi's lawyers say that their client has not been named as a suspect so far.
