The no confidence motion is tabled over the minister's alleged involvement in connection with the recent assault on the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman.
The UNP leader has stated the above during the party Working Committee meeting held this morning (08).
He has added that the country would be robbed of the objective to abolish executive presidency and implement the 18th Amendment if the no confidence motion is passed. Accordingly, the constitution amendment proposed under the 100-day work programme would be lost.
Meanwhile, the no confidence motion, with 114 signatories has been handed over to the Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa.
