The order was issued after the suspects were produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court.

Residents of Talawakele engaged in a protest after a youth in the area jumped to his death – into the Upper Kotmale Reservoir - in a bid to evade the police who were following him.

The protestors were on the railway line hampering train travel. A tense situation arose after police attempted to disperse the crowd.

The suspects were arrested on Thursday, following investigations.
