Sri Lanka's casino king Dhammika Perera is said to have been involved in a helicopter scam in which his company Hayleys supplied the aircraft to an Indian company in the island called Cairn Lanka.

It has been baffling for the Sri Lanka Air Force which is trying to find out how and why Hayleys which does not possess helicopters had submitted tenders seeking to supply air transport.

Hayleys had paid between US$ 2000-3000 per flying hour for a Bell 412 model.
The operating cost per flying hour is said to be around US$1316.
The actual cost of a flying hour for a Bell 412 chopper is said to be within the range of US$5000-6000.

In addition a monthly fee of US$250,000 has to be paid.
