He said that the Port City not only posed a catastrophe to Sri Lanka but was also detrimental to the region as well as the world at large.

Sridharan was quoted by the Sinhala paper Lankadeepa as saying at an event held in Vavuniya on Saturday (January 24).

"America and India will not disregard this as a minor thing. They had to think about this extensively. These countries had an agenda to defeat them democratically rather than spilling any blood. That is why they used us to achieve victory for you", Sridharan was quoted as saying in the Lankadeepa.
