MR, still chairman of SLFP & UPFA - Elections Chief

Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya says that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa remains the Chairman of SLFP and UPFA, according to a letter he received by the SLFP several days ago.

Speaking today (23), Deshapriya also stated that according to the formal correspondence he received 10 days back, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa is the SLFP General Secretary.

Although media reports cited a change in these posts, the SLFP is to officially inform him of such a change, he added.

"So Mr. Rajapaksa is the Chairman of both SLFP and UPFA until they inform us,” he further said.
