Ex-President's inner ring officer owned luxury building in Hambantota

An inner ring officer of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is facing charges of corruption and misappropriation of funds, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns.

The officer - Major Neville is to be taken to the Bribery Commission by a political party which is said to be compiling a dossier of him on numerous counts of corruption.

Under investigation among other acquisitions will be how Major Neville came into possession of a luxury building and a petrol filling station at Weeraketiya in Hambantota which is the home district of Rajapaksa.

Suspicion is also mounting over the manner in which Major Neville received promotions during the tenure of former army commander Jagath Jayasuriya who was succeeded by the current army chief Daya Ratnayake.
