Sri Lanka paid nearly Rs.100 million to ex-IMF chief for PR work Featured

The government of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is reported to have paid the former president of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Dominic Strauss Kahn almost Rs.100 milllion (984 lakhs) to seek his advice last year.

Kahn visited Sri Lanka from October 26 to 28 last year and the money was paid over a six-month period.

Sri Lanka also spent a whopping 4.7 million US Dollars which it paid to a public relations company in Britain called Bell Pottinger) to boost its international image.

The money was paid seeking the support of the United Nations, European Union and British officials.

There is also an issue concerning expenses for a British-Sri Lanka inter-parliament delegation.
