Rs. 1.46 billion goes missing from the Samurdhi account

All Ceylon United Samurdhi Development Officers Union has revealed that a sum of around 1.46 billion has been withdrawn from a bank account under the purview of the Samurdhi Authority a few days prior to the Presidential election.

The Union has requested President Maithripala Sirisena and the newly appointed minister of Samurdhi and Housing, Sajith Premadasa to hold an inquiry against a group of Samurdhi officials including the former Samurdhi Director General who have been accused of several misdeeds including the misuse of the Samurdhi Authority bank account during the Presidential election period.

A request has further been made to the authorities to commence the investigation before the culprits could hide the relevant documents regarding these misdeeds.

The All Ceylon United Samurdhi Development Officers Union made this request during a media briefing held in Kurunegala yesterday (14).
