Reliable sources say that the Prime minister had freely walked along the Galle Face green, even leaving his security contingent behind.

He was joined by His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, minister of Foreign Affairs - Mangala Samaraweera and Malik Samaraweera.

The Premier had reportedly gone to the venue to look into the preparations for today's Mass by His holiness Pope Francis.
