Some 40 SLFP Members of Parliament who called former President Kumaranatunga last night (January 9) have also conveyed to new President Maithripala Sirisena that they will ensure he gets a majority in Parliament to push through with his promised changes.

According to the Constitution of the SLFP, its leader is someone who attains the highest post in the government.

The MPs are also keen on having President Maithripala Sirisena reinstated as the Secretary of the SLFP after he was dismissed from the post when he left the government and joined the Opposition.
