The Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya officially declared common opposition candidate as the winner of the 2015 Presidential Elections a short while ago.

The Elections commissioner was speaking at a special media briefing held at the Elections Secretariat.

He said that according to the results, the New Democratic Front candidate Maithripala Sirisena won the elections after obtaining 51.28% of the public mandate (6,217,162 votes).
