Speaking at a rally in Bakamoona area, he said : "If Mahinda Rajapaksa is attempting to attain victory over our corpses using violence and roguery, that will never happen. However, if he does comes succeed in doing so, he will be known in history as a ruler coming to power after killing a presidential candidate, a former President and a former Army commander. We are facing grave threats to our lives until Jan. 08. I phoned the elections commissioner and the IGP and asked whether this is democracy. However, the police and the STF are helpless in the face of these attacks."
Common opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena says that Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, Sarath Fonseka and himself will face grave threats to their lives in the next few days.
