Several STF personnell providing security for the event have been injured.

Maithripala Sirisena has been on stage when the incident had occured and UNP MP Dunesh Gankanda has also received injuries, reports say.

It is said provincial politician of the UPFA - Athula Rahubadda is behind the attack.
