General secretary of the UNP Kabir Hashim said the SLFP ministers functioned as members of the economic committee headed by the president.

However, they do not make any proposals at that committee, but their party has now appointed a committee to submit proposals, said Hashim.

The SLFP is yet to submit its proposals with regard to ETCA and the budget despite a promise to do so, he added.

When contacted, SLFP minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena confirmed the party has tasked a committee with formulating and submitting its proposals.

The economic committee has not properly discussed the matters, and before ministers of the two parties bring those up, the SLFP should have its own conclusions, Abeywardena added.
