The Colombo magistrate’s court today (05) ordered the CID to subject the bone samples seized from SAITM in Malabe to DNA testing.

The order was given when the case pertaining to the murder of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen was taken up for hearing, said lawyer for the aggrieved party Misbah Sattar.

Making submissions, the CID told the court that 19 thigh bone and seven chest bone samples found from SAITM should be DNA-tested to determine if there were bones among them that belong to Thajudeen.

Delay in probe into ex-JMO

The state counsel reported a delay in the SLMA inquiry against former Colombo JMO Ananda Samarasekara.

Casting doubts as to whether there was a conspiracy involved, the counsel requested a court order to the SLMC to speed up the investigation.

The magistrate said a decision would be made after considering the submissions.

Suspects already in remand custody in connection with the case, former DIG Anura Senanayake and Inspector Sumith Perera, were further remanded, until October 19.
