He is to be questioned with regard to a complaint (B732) about the disappearance of 11 persons from Colombo city during the previous regime.
Karannagoda himself has lodged the complaint on 28 May 2009, but it took seven-and-a-half years for the CID to summon him for questioning.
However, the ex-Navy chief is likely to be arrested based on a statement given to the CID on September 13 by main suspect, Navy officer Krishantha Welagedara.
It was Sri Lanka Mirror that broke the news that Karannagoda could be summoned to the CID.
