Part of the funds raised by ‘Trail 2016’ in aid of a new cancer ward at Karapitiya Teaching Hospital has gone to hold a party at Taj Samudra, reports say.

MAS Holdings and Royal College, Colombo are organizing the event, with Colours of Courage trust being the main sponsor.

Its brand ambassador is former national cricketer Mahela Jayawardena.

When contacted, director of the trust Sarinda Unamboowa told Sri Lanka Mirror that it was an exhibition, not a party.

Bhatiya and Santhush funded the exhibition, and its proceeds also were handed over towards the construction of the cancer ward, he said.

According to him, all participants of ‘Trail 2016’ that begins on October 06 are volunteers.

Previously, a march from Point Dondra to Point Pedro collected 2.6 million dollars, which has gone to build Trail Cancer Hospital in Thelippalay in 2014.
