North Provncial Councillor of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) - Ananthi Sasitharan has said that she would boycott the forthcoming Presidential election as a mark of protest against the party's decision to support common candidate Maithripala Sirisena.

Yesterday (30), the TNA announced their decision to back the Presidential candidate of the common opposition.

Speaking to BBC Tamil Service, Sasitharan said that the manifesto of the TNA clearly mentions about the Tamil identity and their right to self-rule. She adds that she contested the elections based on that.

How can I vote for someone who opposes the Tamil identity and their right to self rule?, she questions.
