In an interview with ‘BBC Sandeshaya’ the General Secretary of the JHU pointed out that it was wrong to ignore all the sacrifices made by these military intelligence officers for National security and highlight these individual incidents.

“What is important is not arresting these soldiers who followed the orders that were issued to them. Those who ordered these killings are comfortably in their homes living in the lap of luxury being protected by the powerful rulers of this country, while these poor soldiers are being punished. This is not acceptable. Some parties within the government are protecting these higher-ups who gave the orders to these soldiers under ‘political deals’,” charged Patali Champika.

Political Compensation:

“I am sternly warning these politicians who are protecting those who are responsible for issuing these orders that they will have to pay a huge political price for their actions,” said the minister.
When asked if he was referring to the President or the Prime Minister, the minister said that he was not prepared to name anyone as yet.

Patali Champika further pointed out that the President and Prime Minister are bound to protect and implement the mandate given to them by the people, adding that it is only the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) that is truly committed to representing the true Sinhala Buddhist sentiment.

Refuting allegations levelled against him that he conspired against the former president and was instrumental in destroying his minority vote base, he said that it was a theory concocted by the former president to protect the parties that created these issues within the country who wanted to discredit the JHU.
