Why CEB charges extra Rs. 16 Featured

The COPE has revealed that the CEB charges around Rs. 20.00 per unit of electricity, whereas it generates a unit at a cost of Rs. 4.00.

This is in order to commensurate for the payments it has not received from state and private sector institutions.

By 31, December 2014, outstanding dues to the CEB from for these institutions for electricity supply are Rs. 41,332 million.

COPE has recommended that action be taken against responsible officials and heads of units who have not investigated these defaulters, or at least sent a list of them to the auditor general.
