Speaking at a meeting held at the garden of former Deputy Minister M.K.D.S. Gunawardena, Sirisena was responding to the alleges of the government citing that the LTTE would rise again with the aid of the Tamil Diaspora, should the common candidate win the election.
Maithripala Sirisena emphasised that many who were victimised by the LTTE and many powerful leaders who rose against the LTTE have joined his election campaign.
"General Sarath Fonseka is one such leader in this battle. Would he allow the LTTE to rise? Would Ven. Sobhitha Thera, Ven. Rathana Thera like a war to return to the country?," he added.
The military victory against the LTTE was not a victory of a sole person but a result of a joint effort, he further added.
